Despite the impressive development of wind power, Spain is now more dependent on fossil fuels for electricity generation than a decade ago. In the period 1996-2007, wind power in Spain has indeed grown from 0.2 to 9% of overall energy demand, but the demand has also grown nearly by 80%. So the share of fossil fuels has gone from 38% to 59%. The solution? Setting an absolute limit to total energy production.
